About Me
We often move through life following a map that wasn't drawn for us. Sometimes we find ourselves trying to grow in directions that feel forced, or struggling to find our footing when the terrain of our lives suddenly shifts.
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful and capable, but carry more internally than others might realize. They may be navigating life transitions, managing the complexity of a busy or neurodivergent mind, or feeling the slow build of burnout that comes from holding too much for too long.
Therapy offers a space where you don't have to perform or explain yourself away.
I'm Mathieu Cormier, a Licensed Counselling Therapist (LCT) in New Brunswick. I offer grounded, thoughtful therapy for people who want to better understand themselves, make sense of their experiences, and move toward a life that feels more clear, steady, and authentic.
A Little More About Me
When I’m not in the office, I’m usually in motion. Whether I’m hiking in the woods, running a local trail, or cross-country skiing through a New Brunswick winter, time outdoors is where I often find my own clarity.
I’m also a parent, a dedicated musician, and a lifelong reader who usually has two or three books on the go at any given time. I write regularly as well, though most of that work stays tucked away in my personal journals.
I like to think I’m funny (your mileage may vary). More importantly, I want working together to feel like a place where you can be yourself without masking or worrying about being judged, while still moving toward the life you want to build.
MY PRACTICE
Merging specialized expertise with a tailored, human approach.

THE FOCUS (WHAT WE EXPLORE)
While every person’s story is different, much of my work tends to revolve around a few common landscapes:
ADHD & Neuro-Affirming Care
Understanding how your mind works and moving away from the idea that it needs to be “fixed.” Together we focus on working with your brain rather than against it.
Relationships & Social Connection
Exploring patterns that show up in relationships, navigating conflict, or working through the feeling of being stuck when trying to build meaningful connections.
Burnout & Life Transitions
Periods where the ground under your feet is shifting — career changes, parenting, identity shifts, or the quiet realization that something in life needs to change.
Anxiety & Depression
Understanding emotional patterns and building ways to support yourself that feel sustainable rather than overwhelming.
THE APPROACH (HOW WE WORK)
I draw from several approaches, but therapy with me is never one-size-fits-all. We work together to find what helps you think more clearly, feel more grounded, and move forward.
Understanding Your Story
Using approaches like CBT and Schema Therapy, we explore the underlying patterns and narratives that shape how you experience yourself and the world.
Developing Presence
Mindfulness practices can help strengthen attention, emotional regulation, and your ability to step back from overwhelming thoughts.
Creative Exploration
As a musician and writer, I sometimes invite creative expression — journaling, metaphor, or music — when words alone don’t quite capture the experience.
Body & Environment
Our mental and physical lives are connected. When it fits, we can explore lifestyle habits, movement, or even ecotherapy and outdoor sessions.
